Salute to Service

For the second year running, HKA planned and implemented media relations, advertising, social media and web activities for one of Orange County’s largest and most memorable Memorial Day events. Presented annually for more than half a century by The Freedom Committee of Orange County, a nonprofit comprised of veterans who bring “living history” to local classrooms, the event is a partnership with Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park in Costa Mesa. The ceremony, which drew 1,000+ guests, is one of the most authentic Memorial Day ceremonies in the area, featuring uniformed veterans who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East wars, as well as an inspirational aerial flyover and a moving wreath-laying ceremony to recognize all military branches and wars. Of course, it wouldn’t be Memorial Day without burgers, so the event also included a complimentary In-N-Out Burger lunch provided by Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive. HKA, who is proud to represent both The Freedom Committee of Orange County and Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park, secured expansive pre-event media coverage and onsite television coverage from KNBC Los Angeles and Spectrum News-TV.

The Envelope, Please

It’s certainly nice when we are recognized for our efforts on a personal level. However, well-earned recognition also carries considerable value among companies in the professional world – beyond warm fuzzies. Accolades are critically important in establishing and reinforcing a company’s brand identity. Whether accentuating a longstanding commitment to community service or underscoring the lasting impact of a company project, public recognition goes a long way toward shaping a company’s brand essence – its corporate DNA. Last quarter, HKA helped Community Preservation Partners (CPP) to be named a finalist for an Affordable Housing Finance Reader’s Choice Award. The honor currently is being voted on. Also, the agency saw Haskell & White LLP honored with the prestigious Public Service Award from the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Each of these accolades began with strategic mining of the awards landscape to identify the best recognition opportunities. As entry deadlines neared, HKA conducted comprehensive research, wrote compelling essays and completed lengthy nomination forms, among an array of tasks undertaken to get each client into consideration. In the end, our efforts did more than just shine a light on the hard work of these two commendable organizations. The accolades reinforced brand credibility and authenticity for CPP and Haskell & White LLP – and perpetuated the core values on which each company stands. We are extremely proud to support and amplify the great achievements of our partners.
