Superior Network Coverage

HKA Marketing Communications | Superior Network CoverageHaving supported for many years Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, and Fairhaven Memorial Services in Mission Viejo, HKA proudly welcomed 10 more Southern California mortuaries to its client roster last year.  Like Fairhaven, each venerable facility exists under the broad umbrella of Service Corporation International (SCI) – North America’s leading provider of funeral products and services.  As 2017 wound to a close, HKA delivered multifaceted communications support to numerous SCI Dignity Memorial venues hosting important year-end events, including Dia de los Muertos celebrations at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Westminster Memorial Park; a pet adoption affair at Harbor Lawn-Mt. Olive Memorial Park; a pregnancy and infant loss remembrance service at Eternal Hills Memorial Park; and many holiday candlelight celebrations across the SCI network.  HKA elevated the visibility of the events and each location, driving awareness and attendance with articles in local newspapers and through social media.  In November, the agency once again supported Fairhaven’s annual Oliver Halsell Care Awards Banquet, which yielded media coverage in Newport Beach Independent, the Daily Pilot, and The Orange County Register.  As Christmas approached, HKA shined a light on Pacific View Memorial Park with a front-page Daily Pilot story about Pacific View’s annual Wreaths Across America event.  HKA also secured the front page of the Local section in The Orange County Register.

Northwest Passage

HKA Markerting CommunicationsAfter a year of diligent rehab by prominent HKA client Community Preservation Partners (CPP) and its construction affiliates, and months of comprehensive event planning undertaken by the agency, a region in desperate need of affordable housing celebrated Plaza Townhomes – a newly rehabilitated affordable housing community in Portland, Oregon.  In October 2017, HKA executed for CPP a memorable rededication event that included recognition awards for vital CPP investors/partners, appearances from local and national political dignitaries, festivities for the residents, attendance by notable community business leaders – and of course, a glorious pair of oversized scissors for the ribbon-cutting.  Everyone in attendance was treated to delicious cuisine, regional wines and music by Portland’s own Ian James. Obviously, no Rose City gathering would be complete in a food-crazed town like Portland without a food truck, so HKA secured the always-popular Grilled Cheese Grill with its signature “school bus,” which was transformed into a dining room – certainly the perfect complement for an event recognizing the impact of remodeling and renovation.  The completion of Plaza Townhomes marked CPP’s arrival in the Pacific Northwest, and HKA pulled out all the stops, coordinating pre-event policy meetings for CPP executives with Oregon State Senator Lew Frederick and representatives from the Portland Mayor’s office.

Stevie Wonder

HKA Marketing CommicationsHKA maintains a long and impressive track record for securing meaningful client accolades – yielding news, buzz and well-earned client recognition.  The agency is particularly adept at identifying prestigious award opportunities and constructing compelling nominations.  Our efforts are handsomely rewarded each time we see a client bring home the hardware.  Created in 2002 to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and working professionals around the globe, the Stevie Awards are the world’s premier business awards, and the Stevie has become a coveted prize.  Announced in New York in November, HKA saw four commendable clients honored with a Stevie in the Female Executive of the Year category.  Melissa Beck, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and the Inland Empire, Margaret Bayston, CEO and Executive Director of Laura’s House and Lisa Wolter, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Orange County were recognized in the Government/Nonprofit category among companies with 11 to 2,500 employees.  Michelle Wulfestieg, Executive Director of the Southern California Hospice Foundation, was similarly honored among companies with 10 or fewer employees. For each Stevie winner, HKA operated behind the scenes to gather pertinent information and develop a persuasive essay.  We proudly went 4-4 last year, as every HKA Stevie contender emerged with a medal – deservedly so.
