During a recent legislative session on Sept. 30, 2018, in response to the #MeToo movement, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed into law a number of bills taking effect Jan. 1, 2019, that will lower plaintiffs’ burden in sexual harassment lawsuits, increasing training requirements for employers, and make it more difficult to enter into releases and nondisclosure agreements with employees.
